Support Wisconsin Child Care Providers!

On Thursday May 8th the Joint Finance Committee voted to remove all funding for child care from the Wisconsin state budget.

Without funding an estimated 25% of child care businesses are predicted to close including 35% of child care businesses in rural areas across the state.

That's why from May 12 - 16 dozens of providers organizing through WECAN (Wisconsin Early Childhood Action Needed), went on strike and descended on the State Capitol in Madison for the week.

Through our organizing efforts we were able to get Wisconsin Dems to introduce a new bill, met with dozens of legislators and told our stories in news outlets across the state.

UPDATE: On July 1, Democratic Gov. Tony Evers and Republican state leaders agreed to a deal that would give providers $110 million (less than one quarter of what we need to survive) over the next 11 months but nothing after that.

So, we're ready to keep organizing!

Donate now to our organizing fund so that we have the resources to organize the budget providers and families need to survive.

Want to support us in person? Join us July 11 at 9 am at the Capitol!
