
Miguel Valente is running for the Sangamon County Board, District 18, to bring innovative changes and enhance residents' quality of life. He proudly served in the Army National Guard as a Water Treatment Specialist. Raised in a Mexican immigrant family, Miguel understands the importance of advocating for low-income and minority communities. He aims to be proactive and accessible to all residents.
At 25 years old, Miguel enters his first election as the only U.S. Veteran and Hispanic/Latino candidate in a contested Democratic primary. On March 17, 2026, he successfully defeated the sitting Democratic incumbent, Sam Cahnman.
Miguel is on track to become one of the youngest individuals ever elected to the Sangamon County Board and the only Hispanic/Latino representative in recent memory.
