For the past two years, it's been my privilege to serve the residents of Ward 7 as their Alderman. A ward alderman's two-year term is a surprisingly short amount of time, and while I'm proud of what has been accomplished so far, there is still work to be done, and it's my hope that you'll afford me the opportunity to continue that work for the next two years.
As I travel the neighborhoods in Ward 7, I take great pride when I see the solutions we've been able to implement as a city in response to the concerns you've brought to me. I try to ensure that each resident's concern is able to get in front of the right people in the city, so that solutions can become a reality.
Over the course of the last two years, we've made great strides in implementing tangible improvements to the safety and quality of life in Ward 7 neighborhoods. In the DW Highway corridor, I was proud to help pave the way for a much-needed pedestrian crossing signal at the end of Spit Brook Road. In Crown Hill, I've introduced legislation to bring about parking restrictions on narrow streets and install stop signs at dangerous intersections. As the city grows and we're faced with the on-going housing crisis, I was proud to co-sponsor legislation that will help add desperately needed housing to the market.
Perhaps the accomplishment I'm most proud of is the passage of O-25-55, which added clarity to the intent and purpose of the Transit-Oriented Development zone when it overlays a General Industrial zone. This legislation - without interrupting existing industry - will ensure that the residents of Crown Hill are never again faced with the prospect of an asphalt production plant in their neighborhood.
Even as we approach another municipal election, the work continues for Ward 7. Legislation is currently being crafted to address the growing need for safety on Harbor Avenue and Arlington Street - two of our ward's most frequent accident sites. If re-elected, I am committed to continue putting Ward 7 first so that long standing needs are addressed and resolved.
At a time where all levels of government are increasingly "team sport", I take great pride in my ability to set partisanship aside for continued betterment of the city of Nashua. In the aldermanic chamber, I've advocated for the resident when legislation came forward to increase the time limit for public comment and to improve transparency in regard to your tax bills and on-going property assessments. If re-elected, I will continue to cast each vote with regard only to the merit of the legislation and the input of my constituents.
Thank you for considering a contribution to this campaign. Your support will be a great help in spreading the message and continuing to work toward making a meaningful and lasting impact here in the city of Nashua. I look forward to seeing you back out on the campaign trail!
