I’m Robin Peguero – the Miami homicide prosecutor, January 6 congressional investigator, and first-generation American preparing a run for Congress in Florida’s 27th Congressional District.
Our district is the largest Hispanic district in the country currently represented by a Republican, and it's one of the top Democratic pick-up opportunities nationwide. Together, we can beat Trump loyalist Maria Elvira Salazar. Thank you so much for pledging your support!
My story is a South Florida story and an American story, one of loyalty and service. I’m a son of immigrants – a Dominican father and Ecuadorian mother. They came here in search of a better life, and they enlisted in the U.S. Army to give back to the country that gave them so much.
It wasn’t easy. For years, my parents, sister, and I lived in a tiny basement apartment in New York. When I was five, we moved to Hialeah, a community of Latinos from different countries building new lives just like my parents did. Growing up, they stressed loyalty and service: A la familia, a la comunidad. Al país. Family. Community. Country.
It’s why I went into criminal law and became a prosecutor. It’s why I put violent criminals and predators behind bars to make our streets safer. And it’s why I exposed the insurrectionists who vandalized our Capitol and attacked police officers on January 6th.
I wanted to deliver on the promise of our constitution and the rule of law, the security of all Americans, and freedom from political violence. So when the violent criminals I helped expose were pardoned by Trump, including cop killers and child predators, I knew my work as a public servant was not done.
I’m running for Congress because we need to put the American people before politics, public service over self-interest. Our government and the corrupt politicians who run it are not working for us – and it’s time we write a new story for South Florida.
Where hard-working families stop being forced to choose between making rent or seeing a doctor.
Where small businesses have access to resources and tax relief.
Where we no longer get squeezed by corporations and billionaires while politicians like Maria Elvira Salazar do their bidding.
We all have a story to write, and in Congress, I’ll fight to make sure every American gets that chance. Ponte las pilas – and let’s get to work.
