Engineering a Brighter Future

Marilyn Carter has served on the Board of County Commissioners for Orange County, North Carolina since December, 2024.

The Board is developing long-range plans that address land use, housing for all, climate action, economic development and capital investment for our schools.

Marilyn is bringing her experience and skills from serving on the Orange County Planning Board, as a retired electrical engineer, and as a member of the Governor's Commission for Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Substance Use Services to the next phase of their work.

Marilyn's professional career in operations and her grassroots organizing work have been about building inclusive communities to ensure equitable outcomes. It's exactly what County Government is about.

Marilyn is working to make Orange County the best place in our state for all people to live, learn, love, work, and grow.
