Many people in Maryland are struggling. For too many, individual dignity, a stable family, and a thriving community seem out of reach.

We can't blame Washington, entirely. Our struggles are the result of decades of poor decisions made in Annapolis—and an approach to budgeting and policy built on false choices that pit us against one another.

Cheap energy vs. the environment. The Blueprint vs. support for those with disabilities. And the falsest choice of all: economic development vs. investment in social infrastructure.

It’s time to choose differently. 

We all deserve stable access to affordable housing and healthcare, the ability to work a decent job, educate our children, retire someday, and to participate in the life of our community.

Let’s show up for each other and for our democracy. Let’s build our social infrastructure with healthcare, nutrition and caregiver supports for young and old alike. Let’s create meaningful access to the building blocks of a decent life.

Let’s choose: dignity, fairness, family, community.
