Hi! My name is Jordan Korgood (she/they) and I am running for Massachusetts Governor’s Council in District 4.
The governor’s council is the oldest governing body in the US (est. in 1629), yet is the least known part of our state government. It is essential for keeping our judicial system running smoothly. In basic terms, the council is responsible for approving or rejecting judicial candidates, as well as offering guidance and advice to the governor on judicial matters. Councillors can help to approve judges who care about important ideals like abolitionism and racial equity.
In the past, the biggest critique of the Governors Council has been that it serves as a simple rubber stamp for approving judges, and that its existence today is obsolete.
Why am I running, then?
Well, I believe we can do better.
Massachusetts needs a younger voice who is fully committed to using their post to effect positive change on the justice system. On the heels of progressive campaigns nationwide, I hope to use my campaign to shatter expectations of what a politician “should look like”. As a longtime Boston resident I’m deeply invested in the political processes that govern our city and state from day to day. Ask any one of the city councillors at City Hall, they’ll tell you I’m there almost every Wednesday.
You deserve a candidate who
I urge you to help make Massachusetts a better place for all and donate to my campaign.
I hope you’ll join me. Jordan Korgood, For Good!
