Hi! I’m Jay G. Wegimont, a proud lifelong resident of South Kingstown, Rhode Island, and now, a Town Councilmember.

Born and raised in East Matunuck, I’ve dedicated my life to serving our community and working to ensure South Kingstown remains the best place to live, work, and raise a family.

Growing up in South Kingstown taught me the importance of hard work, community, and giving back. Whether it was attending Matunuck Elementary, volunteering as a firefighter in Snug Harbor, or lifeguarding at East Matunuck State Beach, these experiences shaped my deep commitment to serving others.

As a Town Councilmember, I’m focused on delivering real results for our families and neighbors. My priorities include ensuring the new high school is built on time and on budget to meet the needs of our students, creating affordable housing options so families and seniors can afford to stay in our community, and supporting our local businesses to strengthen our economy.

I’m also committed to making South Kingstown safer for pedestrians and cyclists and fostering sustainability to preserve our town for future generations. Additionally, I’m proud to advocate for a homestead tax exemption for residents, helping to ease the financial burden on our families and homeowners.
