Elect Gordon Chaffin, a leader who struggles to afford essential bills just like you.
I'm running for Congress because we need a new generation of leaders who have had to hustle to afford the basics that only get more expensive: housing, healthcare, and more. D.C.'s Delegate to the House should have urgency to fix affordability problems from recent personal experience.
High costs have been a constant struggle in Gordon Chaffin's 16 years as a Washingtonian:
- A grant from college was the only way to afford my 1st D.C. internship costs.
- I pursued more education with night classes for three years. I usually won the fight against sleep on the Metro, but I've only lost ground on the student debt balance because of high interest rates.
- In 2020, I was only able to stay in my apartment after receiving Emergency Rental Assistance. ERAP runs out of money within months each year, leaving deserving families in the cold.
- From 2020-21, and again in 2025, Medicaid has been my only path to health care. I can't pay my bills with a job working outside unless I maintain my health.
Suggested Donations to Gordon Chaffin:
- $51 - D.C. should become the 51st state
- $130 - miles in WMATA's Metrorail system
- $345 - number of ANC commissioners in D.C.
- $702 - D.C.'s population in thousands
- $1,973 - year Congress passed D.C. Home Rule Act
