Our state and Nation are experiencing a never-ending barrage of attacks both financially and physically from the current administration. From ICE terrorizing families and children in their homes and businesses to cancelling grants and SNAP benefits.

McLean County has created an organization that is pushing back. When Trump won in 2016, we began our resistance. We had 5 elected county board members to 15 republicans. Through organizing we have turned our RED County into a BLUE WAVE county.

In 2024 we elected 12 democratic board members and for the first time EVER had control of the county board. But that wasn’t all we did. We elected and reelected State Senator Dave Koehler, Representative Sharon Chung and have been the base of Congressman Eric Sorenson’s election and re-election campaigns.

We are seeing an expanding resistance across the country and in our county, we are trying to capitalize on that motivation and frustration. We have 5 incumbents running for re-election with 2 in previously republican districts, we have one open district with the only candidate and we have candidates against all four republicans with a good shot of reclaiming Sharon Chung’s old county board seat and we have the best shot we have had of picking up the county wide office of Clerk.

Since gaining control of the county board we have passed Project Labor Agreements for all county projects, renewed our focus on mental health and housing issues impacting our county, embraced renewable energy with ever expanding Solar and Wind projects. We are the fastest growing downstate county and we are working hard to address the needs of our citizens.

We have the candidates, the motivation, and the organization but what we are lacking, as most growing organizations are, is resources. Growing a donor base is harder to build than a volunteer base.

That is why I am reaching out. As leaders in our state, you know the importance of a well organized and financed political operation. An organization in this case that proves downstate isn’t a lost cause for democrats.

With your help we can continue to be the blue beacon of downstate Illinois. Your donation of $1,000, $500, or even $250 will go a long way towards ensuring these victories.
