Hey, neighbor — I’m Elijah King.
I’m a lifelong Durham resident, community organizer, and proud son of a single mother who showed me the meaning of resilience. We moved 11 times before I turned 18, often depending on others for a roof over our heads. That experience drives my commitment to building a Durham where everyone has a chance to thrive.
Since 2023, I’ve served as Third Vice Chair of the NC Democratic Party, standing up against discrimination, traveling the state to build coalitions, and always carrying Durham’s progressive spirit with me.
Locally, I’ve co-founded initiatives like the Durham Neighbors Free Lunch Program, which served over 60,000 meals during the pandemic, and the Youth Environmental Justice Initiative, empowering students to lead on climate issues. I’ve sat on boards focused on youth, education, and public health because I believe no one should be left behind.
Now, I’m running for Durham City Council, Ward 1 — to bring bold, community-rooted leadership to the table.
If you believe in a Durham that works for all of us, chip in today. Every dollar helps us reach more neighbors.
