For too long now, the GOP in Carbon County have run against the perceived and real grievances caused by the decline of the coal industry in Eastern Utah. Its time to end this period of non-action. For almost 20 years, Democrats in Carbon County have had virtually no influence over local politics. Business has not returned. Blight, by all accounts now detrimentally affects our small towns.
Unemployment continues above the state average. The average median income continues to lag behind the rest of Utah and the poverty rate is one of the highest in the state. Meanwhile, the discrepancy between the haves and have nots is more than palpable. It is evidenced all over the county.
City and County budgets continue to soar, while the Trump Administration actively seeks to reduce the historical crucial role of the federal government in local communities. The rhetoric of a "booming" economy simply does not bare out in Carbon County.
It is our firm belief that today's Republican party is performative and lacks substance. Fueling culture wars, a "low information voter" electorate continues to insert often ill-qualified candidates against their own interests. Property tax and utility hikes abound while our streets and other crucial infrastructure is ignored.
Join with us in choosing responsible candidates for our county, state and federal elections. Our future depends on it.
