¡Hola! I am Brenda, and I am running for reelection as your State Representative.
Let’s get one thing straight — our American Dream is under attack by an unhinged president and billionaire oligarchs who are defunding our public schools, wrecking our economy, targeting public servants, and vilifying diverse communities. We cannot afford to sit back.
This is a full-blown assault on our Constitution, our institutions, and the fabric of American democracy. If we don’t rise up—if we don’t organize, mobilize, and fight back—we risk losing everything.
Georgia is my home since I moved from Mexico at the age of five to reunite with my father. Both of my parents had less than an elementary school education and didn’t speak English. Our family often struggled with housing, transportation, and simply making ends meet. My parents believed in a better life and always told me, “Go to school and be somebody.”
As a child, I often served as an interpreter for school staff, parents, teachers, and our neighbors. In high school, my counselor told me I would be a good receptionist or secretary. But like my parents, I believe in something bigger - the American Dream.
I worked my way through school—working full time and going to school full time. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Sociology from Georgia State University and obtained my law degree from Syracuse University. I have dedicated my career to helping families navigate a complicated legal system and fighting for their rights.
In 2016, you gave me the honor to make history as the first American Latina elected to the Georgia General Assembly. Since then, I’ve fought relentlessly for better schools, higher wages, and stronger protections for working families—77 bills and counting.
This is not just another election. This is a fight for our future. For every child struggling in an underfunded school. For every worker barely getting by. For every family pushed out by rising costs.
