I'm a 7th-generation Oregonian born and raised in the Rogue Valley. As a foster mom, I cared for 13 kids and now have three kids through birth and adoption. I bring years of experience advocating for children and families at the local and state level. I’ve led parent councils, served on education advisory committees, and worked alongside legislators, educators and community leaders to improve outcomes for kids. I'm running for School Board to put the focus back on students.
My highest priority is to focus on the kids. I will work to:
· Hire the best superintendent
· Improve reading and math scores
· Raise graduation rates
· Strengthen school safety
· Ensure every dollar of the budget is used responsibly
· Support our teachers
I'm ready to volunteer hundreds of hours of my time and energy serving over the next four years to help improve our schools, and by extension our community. I truly thought at the beginning of all of this that I could just show up, tell people who I am and what I want to do, and let the voters vote, but boy was I wrong. I hate that this is the case, but campaigns are expensive. Each yard sign costs about $8. Printed mailers are about $1 per piece - and I need to reach over 7,000 voters to win! Effective digital ads run upwards of $1,000.
