Anishinaabek Caucus for Transformation (ACT) supports actions that honor Indigenous peoples’ ancestral, present, and future generations in Michigan. Conservation, energy, food, cultural, water, sky, land and climate issues threaten the Anishinaabek. The 12 sovereign nations of Michigan and the tens of thousands of Indigenous peoples in Michigan face issues that everyone in the state should be concerned about. The Anishinaabek have long had a vision for this territory as a sustainable, just, culturally vibrant, and economically equitable place. It is the ancient and current home of the Anishinaabek. ACT seeks to end wrongful actions that threaten this land, dishonor Anishinaabe ancestors and threaten future generations of Michiganders. ACT is currently working to end the ecological and economically disastrous Line 5 pipeline and tunnel, stop the violence of Missing, Murdered Indigenous persons, and halt practices that destroy culturally significant ecosystems - including the problematic killing of wolves, bear and other clan members - and abolish the desecration of Indigenous burial sites. ACT seeks better policies that will foster fair economies, joyful cultures, better relationships with the environment, and genuine respect for the wisdom and heritage of the Anishinaabek in Michigan.
